The musical qualities of found sounds can be explored effectively in sound design. Listen out for variations in pitch, rhythm, timbre and tone that exist in many found sounds. Use your audio editing program to ‘fine-tune’ these and create new sounds. Then manipulate them into a structure to produce a stand-alone sound composition or a piece of incidental music.
